How to Use Quoted

The action pill at the bottom of the library is the home for adding quotes. Tap Type to write one, Paste to drop in clipboard text, Scan to capture from a book, or Request to ask a friend. As you type the author, Quoted suggests names already in your library.

1. Tap the green action pill at the bottom of the library
2. Choose Type, Paste, or Scan
3. Enter the quote, author, source, and tags
4. Tap Save — the quote appears at the top of your library

Point your camera at a printed page or pick a photo from your library. Quoted uses on-device OCR to recognize the text — tap each line you want to include, then tap Capture. The quote lands ready for editing.

Select any text in Safari, Kindle, Messages, or any app — then tap Share and choose Quoted. The quote lands in your library automatically. If you share a whole webpage, the page title becomes the source.

Say "Hey Siri, add a quote to Quoted" — Siri will ask for the quote and the author, then save it to your library without opening the app.

4. Siri confirms: "Added to Quoted"

Tap Request in the action pill, type a topic (courage, patience, faith), and send the link to a friend. They browse their own Quoted library and send back the perfect line. It arrives ready to add to your collection.

Tap the star next to any quote to favorite it. Starred quotes appear in the Favorites tab, grouped into sections by tag. Use the star chip in the library to filter to favorites only, or turn on "Favorites only in widget" in Settings.

Give your phone a shake while you're in the library to pull up a random quote from your collection. A great way to rediscover something you saved months ago and haven't seen since.

Tap the sparkles button in the Library toolbar to switch your search from literal matching to meaning matching. Type a theme, mood, or idea — Quoted reads the meaning of every quote in your library and ranks the closest matches. Fully on-device, no network required.

3. Type a theme or feeling — e.g. "quiet courage", "loving someone you've lost", "beginning again"
4. Quoted ranks every quote in your library by how close its meaning is to your query
5. Tap the sparkles again to return to literal search

Open any quote and tap the Image button. Pick a card style and a font, then save or share a 4:5 card sized for Instagram, Messages, or any social app. Patron unlocks extra fonts.

Long-press your home screen, tap +, and search for Quoted. Choose a size — the small widget shows a compact daily quote; the medium shows the full text with source. In Settings → Widget, pick a card style and turn on Favorites only if you'd prefer to see only starred lines.

One quote a day at the time you pick. The notification shows the full quote and author on the lock screen — a quiet way to keep your library present. Fully on-device, no server involved. You can choose to draw from your favorites or your full library.

1. Open Settings → Notifications → Daily Quote
2. Grant the permission prompt the first time you flip it on
3. Pick a time of day with the time picker
4. Choose Favorites or All Quotes as the source
5. Receive one quote a day at the chosen time — tap the notification to open the app

Quoted recognizes your habits with a collection of badges — for milestones (10 quotes, 50, 100), for streaks (saving daily), and for behaviors (early bird, night owl, Sunday reader). Tap your earned count in Settings to see them all.

2. Earn them naturally as you use the app
3. Tap any earned badge to see its story
4. Patron unlocks the full set — including streaks, easter eggs, and seasonal saves

A one-time unlock that supports development and turns on cosmetic extras: extra accent themes, alternate app icons, more Share-as-Image fonts, bonus widget styles, more badges to earn, and Find Similar Quotes — a semantic search that surfaces quotes from your library with related meaning.

3. Tap Become a Patron and confirm the App Store purchase
4. All themes, icons, fonts, widget styles, and badges unlock immediately
5. Restore Purchases recovers your entitlement on a new device
